I was recently invited in to try my first oxygen facial at the spa, The Skin Girls in Vancouver. The Skin Girls is located in beautiful Yaletown and offers a plethora of result based skin treatments.
First off, let’s talk about the space: bright, beautiful and airy. Basically what spa dreams are made of. The Skin Girls knows what’s up when it comes to decorating as their location is complete with marble tables (bloggers dream), plush comfy couches and touches of pink and grey (favourite colour combination). Not to mention, there are fresh orchids spread about and they even sell my favourite local line, Brunette The Label.
Back to the treatment…the Oxygen Facial treatment corrects and prevents free radical damage and basically allows you to glow on the go. What I love about this facial is how quick it was, it would be perfect for someone who only has a half hour lunch break and wanted to get some pampering done before a date night or GNO.
I try to take as good care of my skin as possible, but of course, you tend to let things slide in the summer time. The oxygen facial starts off with a quick analysis of what skin concerns you may have, for me, it’s acne. No matter how much amazing skincare I use, or how much water I drink (I’ve gotten so much better recently). I still tend to get those annoying pimples here and there.
The facial started off with a very gentle microdermabrasion treatment (I was scared I’m not going to lie, but TBH, it doesn’t hurt a bit). What this tool does is it has an exfoliating device at the end which helps free debris from the surface of your skin to help remove dirt and oil from the pores and the surface dermal tissues. After this step, a customized application of products based on your skin type are applied. Once that’s done, certain serums and creams are used afterward. This made my skin so shiny and glowy. (I didn’t feel bad about walking out of there to the train sans makeup for the first time in my life!).
My verdict? My skin felt amazing (and still does), it was very refreshed, hydrated and healthy. Not to mention, it felt like a baby’s bottom.
(After effect of the facial – sans makeup and sans filter)
