4 Simple Steps to Glowing Skin

Everyone wants glowy dewy skin in the summer. But now that fall is almost here, I want to make sure I’m keeping my glow on through the cooler months ahead. Here, my 4 simple steps to getting glowy, hydrated skin all year round. Take notes, people.

1.Healthy Diet

It might seem obvious, but eating healthy has a huge effect on your skin. If you cut out dairy (something I’ve been trying to do all summer), it reduces breakouts. I try to stick to a vegan/pescatarian diet for the most part but sometimes have some slip ups. The vegan ingredients are rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Things like blueberries, salmon and sweet potatoes are all amazing foods for your skin.

2. Water

This is huge for me, I’m not that good with drinking water throughout the day (I know, so bad). But I’ve been trying to hydrate more frequently and have noticed a difference in my skin.

3. Facials

I’ve really been into getting facials lately, and I’ve figured out that I might just have skin that needs to get a facial every now and again. That’s not hard when your city has an abundance of amazing spas and clinics around. I received my first Microderm facial at The Vanity Lab in Vancouver. I was so excited about this because I’ve heard great reviews about the Microdermabrasion treatment, which I’ve had before but not to this extent. This procedure doesn’t hurt at all and it’s non-invasive. They use an exfoliating tool to buff and remove dead skin than they apply a light peel and very hydrating mask. This was probably one of the most relaxing facials I’ve ever had, I was able to just lie down and let the glowing mask work its magic after the microdermabrasion part.

Final verdict? This made my skin super soft, like a baby’s bottom and very glowy—I was even able to run some errands afterward because I was no longer shy about my makeup-less face.

4. SPF

Applying ample sunscreen every day is something else I’m not that great at (gasps). But the esthetician at The Vanity Lab told me I should be putting sunscreen on every day, despite the weather conditions outside. I was able to take home the Zo Skin Health by Zin Obagi MD Sunscreen + Primer SPF 30 Protection from The Vanity Lab. I love the weightlessness of this product and the fact that it does double duty with acting as a primer. This product is extremely soft on my skin and blends beautifully.

And those are my top 4 simple steps for getting glowy skin all year round.

I am a HUGE advocate for regular exfoliation. Ever since I started using a cleansing brush to cleanse and a washcloth to remove my makeup, my skin has become smoother and much brighter!

I haven’t had a facial in forever. There are so many spa options in my city that sometimes it seems overwhelming to those one. I carry a water bottle with me everywhere but I still don’t feel like I stay as hydrated as I should. These are great tips.

i think adequate hydration does make a major difference in skin (and energy level)….i could definitely be better about my sunscreen.

Hey, great tips! I follow a close and similar regime myself. It is definitely all about your diet because it’ll reflect on your skin.
