Back to school is almost here (crazy right?) so I’ve decided to put together a pretty comprehensive (warning you) beauty guide. Whether you’re hitting the hallways or the boardrooms, these products will have you looking flawless from day to night.
First up, let’s start with the lips. You can’t go wrong with Charlotte Tilbury and her lipstick Pillow Talk was actually derived from a lip liner at first. This colour is the perfect hue to start September off as it’s not too dark but has a soft matte finish with 3-D glowing pigments. Plus, it smells amazing too. You’ll definitely be having all the boys after you.
Concealer is a must have in the school/work season because undereye circles are not so cute. I am loving Benefit’s newest Boi-ing collection. The concealers are made to look like erasers, pencils, etc to get into the school season. I love good branding, and Benefit kills it with this. Not only are these products cute, but they work really well. I love how lightweight they are and they actually last all day, so no having to reapply during coffee breaks. The concealers have been divided into 4 groups, Brightening, Industrial Strength, Airbrush and Hydrating. Personally, my favourite is the brightening because I love a good glow.
Masks are my all-time favourite thing to do when the day is over. I seriously live for a good pampering sesh. These masks are from When and all of them contain hyaluronic acid and ginseng extracts which help keep skin moisturized and healthy. I love that all of these have different purposes.
Clay masks are not only amazing for your skin, but they’re quite fun to use too. I am loving L’Oreal’s newest Pure Clay Mask line, they have a variety of ingredients in their products from seaweed to red algae to eucalyptus and even charcoal. After using these masks, my skin felt extremely soft and was rid of outside pollution. These masks are perfect for the new season because with going to school and work, you are a lot more susceptible to pollution and if you think about it, there are so many germs out there and your skin deserves a good cleaning. (Kind of gross, I know).
Can we talk about L’Occitane’s latest line called Peony? I love it, it all smells so good and the Perfecting Mist is great for stashing in your tote and spritzing throughout the day for refreshing and toning your face. I love any kind of mist and this peony extract one is a must-have. The Facial Cleansing Oil is another goodie—it’s actually infused with real peony petals from Provence (swoon) and it does double duty by removing makeup and impurities.
I’ve been a huge fan of Jergens for awhile now and I am loving their new Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Soothing Aloe lotions. What I love about this brand is they always develop products that solves a myriad of issues, I personally love the Shea butter one because it smells delicious and gives your skin a nice sheen.
I honestly can’t stop raving about the new L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara. This is such a good mascara and because I have shorter lashes, I don’t typically fall in love with a particular kind, but this one does wonders. I have gotten so many compliments on my lashes lately and it’s all thanks to this product. My lashes appear so much thicker and fuller, they don’t clump and it lasts all day. I would highly recommend going back to the classroom or the boardroom with this bad boy stashed in your beauty kit.
I hadn’t tried Infusium23 before but I really like it. The products make my hair feel so soft and they give a bit of shine to my strands too. Also, I love the fact that there are natural ingredients in these such as olive oil. Going back to school (or work) you always want to put your best foot forward and for me, that starts and ends with hair. If I have a good hair day, I know I will have a good day wherever I’m off to next.
I’ve been a big fan of John Frieda for awhile and I love their Brilliant Brunette line as well as their Luxurious Volume line too. The Frizz Ease Hairspray was new to me and it didn’t disappoint. This product doesn’t make your hair feel heavy and it worked to keep my frizziness strands at bay.
You all know I love Hask and this new coconut flavoured Dry Shampoo is a new fave. I never go without dry shampoo in my beauty cabinet and this stuff smells like a beach. You really can’t beat this, so next time you’re upset about not being on a beach and being in a classroom or boardroom, spritz this stuff on your hair and you can just pretend. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.
I’m crazy for L’Oreal’s new Ever Pure Sulfate Free Color Care System. These products are great for those who have colour treated hair (like me) and don’t want to feel guilty about it. The rosemary ingredient helps to revive dry hair and it smells good too. These are great for those who are planning on dying their hair for the new season.
And there you have it, I told you it was comprehensive. I hope these products help you figure out what to stash in your beauty cabinet (and bag) to start the school (or work) year off right.
